The selection method of the length of the bird thorn

Abstract:The principle that the bird thorn can prevent birds from falling on it is that the bird thorn is generally made of elastic material, and only elastic deformation occurs under the action of its own gravity, bird gravity, takeoff or landing. There are few studies on the action of birds on the support during takeoff or landing. Therefore, this paper designs a test device to study the action of domestic pigeons on the support during takeoff and landing. The results show that the force exerted by the pigeon on the support during takeoff is normal distribution, and the force exerted by the pigeon on the support during landing is lognormal distribution. The maximum force exerted by the domestic pigeon on the support during takeoff and landing is almost 4.6 times and 3.8 times of the bird’s own weight. Since no wild birds are selected, the test results may not be universal. In actual application, it is recommended to design an outdoor test device to increase the reliability of the test results. Then, tests are carried out for different thorn materials lengths and diameters, and suggestions for type selection are given.
