Abstract:In order to improve that electrical properties of zinc oxide varistor, this paper conducts a series of tests to study the influence of needle-like and spherical Co3O4 on the varistor. Co, as a modified element, plays an important role in the electrical properties of varistor. The Co used in this paper is prepared by chemical co-precipitation method. Needle-like Co3O4 is prepared from 99.7% oxalic acid solution and analytically pure Co(NO3)2. Spherical Co3O4 is prepared from food-grade ammonium bicarbonate analytically pure Co(NO3)2. It is found that the varistor doped with needle-like Co3O4 is superior to the varistor doped with spherical Co3O4 in terms of 8/20μs wave current capacity and power frequency overvoltage withstand performance.
