Simulation study of Transformer On-load Voltage Regulation Based on PSCAD/EMTDC

Abstract:The traditionally mechanical on-load tap-changer exist many problems such as producing electric arc on switching process, slow movement speed etc. A new no arc on-load tap-changer is needed to developed to solve the above problems. Mechanical on-load tap-changer and power electronic type on-load tap-changer PSCAD model are established in this paper. The energy loss of those two type on-load tap-changer is calculated from simulation which provides reference for further development of on-load tap-changer.
