Abstract:With the development of clean energy, more requirements for high voltage electricity transmission and distribution are proposed. The I-type diode neutral point clamped (NPC) three-level converter is practical used for its high capacity and low device voltage stress. In this paper, three-level space vector pulse width modulation (SVPWM) and the direct current control at fixed frequency based on the rotational coordinates (dq) are adapted in the converter. The neutral point voltage (NPV) imbalance is specifically analyzed to design a control method. This method does not need any additional hardware circuit. Results of simulation and experiments have demonstrated the feasibility and superiority of the proposed approach.
