Abstract:Additional control function is an important function of HVDC, which is beneficial to the stable operation of AC system. Different HVDC projects connect to different AC systems, and the design of additional control function is not the same. According to the characteristics of the AC power grid at both ends of Belo Monte Ⅱ UHVDC project in Brazil, the design of additional control functions is carried out: firstly, the principle and characteristics of two frequency controllers are introduced, and the selection and parameter design of frequency controllers under the operation mode of inter-network and isolation network are carried out. Through the frequency control function of Belo Monte Ⅱ, when the power grid is disturbed, it is conducive to the stability of power grid frequency. Secondly, the principle of power oscillation damping control and the method of controller design are introduced. The controller design and parameter design are carried out, and the simulation test on RTDS is carried out to verify the damping effect. Finally, when the AC power grid fails, it needs to emergency runup / runback Belo Monte Ⅱ UHVDC, and develops the design of interface function with safety and stability control. The on-site operation and test show that the above-mentioned design is effective and has certain reference significance for the design of additional control functions of other HVDC projects.
