Abstract:To improve the accuracy and reliability of power cable fault location method, a cable fault location method considering metal sheath and armour structure is proposed. This paper first establishs model Considering metal sheath and armour structure of the outer layer of the cable. The current and voltage along the line can be obtained using the electrical quantities in the head of the conductor, sheath and armour. Then analyzes the fault sequence network of the cable in case of sheath-armour to ground faults. Finally applies the electrical quantities in sequence network, obtaining the fault distance. It can be obtained exact fault distance merely to use the electrical quantities in the head of the conductor, sheath and armour for armour to ground, sheath-armour to ground and conductor- sheath-armour to ground faults. The simulation results show that this method has obvious advantages in the accuracy and reliability of cable fault location.
