Aiming at the design of the heater in the operating mechanism box, a numerical simulation study on the temperature and humidity of the heater in the operating mechanism box for high voltage circuit breakers is carried out, and the influence of environmental temperature, power, size and other parameters on the temperature distribution in the mechanism box is analyzed. The results show that the air temperature around and directly above the heater is the highest and the relative humidity is the lowest. As the air flows laterally, the air temperature gradually decreases and the relative humidity increases. The environmental temperature and the heating power of the heater have a significant effect on the minimum temperature, maximum humidity and the surface temperature of the heater in the operating mechanism box. The heater size has little effect on the minimum temperature and maximum humidity in the operating mechanism box, but it has a significant effect on the maximum temperature of the heater’s surface.
