Abstract:The existing tuning method of post-set arc suppressing coil for distribution network is running at a status away from the resonance point when the system is normal and adjusting quickly to overcompensation when single-phase ground happens. In this paper, the defects of the method which includes long response time, high overvoltage level and misjudgment of fault line selection in high-resistance grounded situation are assessed through ATP-EMTP simulation. Based on the simulation results, a new tuning method of arc suppression coil is proposed. The new method is presetting arc suppression coil to 40% off degree when the system is normal and adjusting to overcompensation after a time window of 100ms, during which time accurate line selection utilizing characteristics of undercompensationis in progress, when single-phase ground is detected.The superiority of the new arc suppression coil tuning method is proved through simulation results.
