Research on Distribution Static Synchronous Compensator under Unsymmetrical Grid Voltage |

Abstract In the case of unsymmetrical grid voltage, there exist errors in the reference compensation current detected by traditional #em/em#p-#em/em#q method which affects the performance of DSTATCOM. To overcome the drawback, this paper researchs the basic working principle of DSTATCOM, introduces a novel reference current detection method and then designs control system from reference current detection, current tracking control and DC voltage control. Results obtained by a 10kVA prototype experiment show that the DSTATCOM can compensate harmonic and reactive currents effectively under unsymmetrical grid votage.
