Abstract  In this paper, based on permanent magnet synchronous motors, hardware and software test platform are built. Through different modulation strategies, sinusoidal pulse width modulation (SPWM) and space vector modulation (SVPWM) are researched for vibration and noise of motor. Experimental methods are used to analyze spectrum of the current waveform for different modulation strategies and vibration and noise analyzer are used to test radial vibration, which are objective to research the effect of different modulation strategies. Experimental results show that current harmonic content and vibration acceleration level of SPWM modulation are less than that of SVPWM modulation based on the same carrier frequency. Therefore, vibration and noise of the motor under the SPWM modulation is less than that under the SVPWM modulation.
