Abstract In order to expand the application scope of industrial control system, extending it range from local area network to internet, the article based on the IAP (Industrial Automation Platform), through the establishment of the three-tier structure and analysis of its data communications, designed a remote configuration and monitoring platform for industrial control systems (referred to as a remote platform). The platform could realize the design of remote configuration and monitoring in industrial control systems, and created conditions of cloud service for automation systems. Delay tests of the remote platform showed that the platform was able to meet the requirements of data transmission in industrial control systems.
