Abstract Many problems have been caused by unbalanced three-phase parameters in 66kV grid, such as three-phase voltage unbalance,higher displacement voltage of neutral-point,virtual grounding and difficult parameters setting of arc suppression coil etc. The problems will not only harm the safe operation, normal output of transformers and other facilities seriously, but also result in malfunction of relay protection, automatic safety facilities and increase of the power loss. The paper analysis theoretically the reason why arc suppression coil caused voltage more unbalanced seriously. The three methods includes reducing the asymmetry degree of grid, increasing off resonance degree of the compensation power grid and improving damping ratio of compensation power grid, reducing degree of three-phase voltage unbalance, which achieve good results.
