Study on Torsional Characteristics of Drive Train of Grid-connected Wind Farm with Doubly-fed Induction Generators |

Abstract Wind turbine generator (WTG) is a complicated electric and mechanical system which usually operates in severe environment conditions. Because of the WTG’ internal key components used to connect the shaft stiffness, the disturbances due to gust wind and grid side faults may have significant impacts on the dynamic responses of WTG parts, which may affect WTG reliability and power system operation. This paper investigates the dynamic responses, the key parameter change, the oscillation modes and the torsional characteristics of WTG parts under sudden wind speed change and short circuit faults by using the three-mass equivalent model. The results provide important information for the design, stable operation and improve service life of a WTG.
