Communication research on insulation fault online monitoring system based on IEC 61850 |

Abstract The operational safety of high voltage power equipment is the focus of the power systems. Aiming at the insulation failure of high voltage power equipment in power systems, an online monitoring system based on IEC 61850 standard GOOSE technology is designed in this work. This monitoring system uses sound and ultrasonic probe to collect signals, extracts the characteristics of the fault and identifies the insulation failure using parallel Long Short-Term Memory algorithm. Finally, the system communication is based on the IEC 61850 standard GOOSE technology. Simulation results show that the method proposed in this paper can accurately monitor both Partial Discharge and Destructive failure of insulation. The system prototype based communication experiments use the third party software Wireshark to capture and analyze the communication messages, and experiment results show that the communication scheme is prompt and reliable.
