Abstract Under the background of the continuous expansion of the scale of wind power, VSC-MTDC provides a flexible and economical way of transmission. In this paper, a probabilistic power flow calculation method considering power control mode is proposed for AC-DC parallel operation system composed of VSC-MTDC and AC power grid. Firstly, the AC/DC power flow model with VSC-MTDC is established; secondly, the multi-power control modes of VSC-MTDC are considered in power flow calculation, and then the probabilistic load flow is calculated based on Latin hypercube sampling method; finally, the effectiveness of the proposed method is verified by a case study of Guangdong Nan'ao multi-terminal flexible HVDC transmission system.
