Abstract This paper introduces the common structural types of the large capacity single phase generator step-up transformer. Taking a single-phase 315MV·A/500kV generator step-up transformer as an example, the three commonly used structural types are compared and analyzed from three aspects of transformer core size, transportation scheme and technical economic. The magnetic flux leakage distribution and insulation characteristics of the three structures are simulated by the magnetic simulation analysis software and wave process calculation software. Based on the analysis of economy and safety reliability of different structural types, the advantages and disadvantages of three commonly used structural types and the key factors to be considered in structural selection and design are summarized.
