Abstract During the routine maintenance of 110kV gas insulated switchgear (GIS) in a power station, it is found that a phase contact resistance of the equipment is abnormal. According to the site check, maintenance work and related tests, this paper makes a detailed analysis of the most possible development process of the failure. In order to avoid the similar defects, the corresponding suggestions are put forward on the basis of summarizing the experience of this fault treatment, providing reference for the treatment of similar defects.
