Abstract  Transmission line faults are frequent faults in the power system. It is of great significance to study the fault characteristics and recovery strategies of DC transmission lines to ensure the safe and stable operation of the power grid. This article introduces the types and functions of DC protection related to DC fault restart, and provides specific methods for accurately simulating DC fault characteristics and realizing restart function in PSS/E software. Finally, the simulation results are compared with real-time digital simulation (RTDS) joint debugging tests of a certain project to verify the feasibility and accuracy of the DC grounding fault simulation method in electromechanical transient simulation.
