Abstract Base on the study of large asynchronous motor start, this paper mainly talks about the different voltage drop caused by different start-up mode of MV motor to the motor itself, adjacent equipment, and different voltage grade busbar. Through the EDSA simulation of three start-up ways such as direct start-up, soft start-up and VFD start-up, analyzing the results, it draw conclusion that the importance of the soft start-up mode.
