Abstract This paper builds a new four-coil electromagnetic resonance power transfer system, and establishes the efficiency model. By analyzing the efficiency model, the phenomenon of efficiency frequency splitting of the four-coil system is studied. The influence of the adjacent coupling coefficients to the efficiency is discussed, and the optimal coupling coefficients between the four resonant coils are found, which can avoid the blindness of coupling coefficients design, and provide a theoretical reference for the system design. According to the study results of the optimal coupling coefficients, the best distance between the four coils was designed, and a double-coil that contains the power coil and transmitter coil is proposed, which can enhance the stability and improve the efficiency and transmission distance of the system effectively. The load power and efficiency were tested and analyzed under different frequency and coupling coefficients. The consistency of the experimental results and the theoretical analysis proves the correctness of the model and study conclusion. With the above research results, the system can meet the transfer range of 40 cm. When the transfer distance is 10 cm, the efficiency is 80%.
