Abstract This paper introduces the principles of static frequency converter (SFC) start-up mode,compares the two starting schemes,analyzes the relationship between SFC capacity and starting time by modeling and simulation.The research shows that the two schemes have their advantages and disadvantages, which can meet the requirements of the starting of the synchronous compensator.
