Abstract In allusion to the deficiencies of domestic relay professional training system currently, this paper has established a novel relay protection training system orientated to the technical personnel engaged in relay protection and automation that is much more in compliance with the operating site requirements of electrical power grid. This system adopts a combination manner of grid digital model and real substation secondary equipment in a close-loop simulation system incorporating the digital & physical hybrid simulation system, relay protection cabinets and integrated automation system. In addition, this system is capable for online debugging, offering a vivid training environment for users and improving their comprehensive analysis capabilities to cope with failures in the real running conditions.
