Abstract We have proposed a type of power quality monitor based on dual-core CPU, DSP and ARM combined with the hardware of high-speed simultaneous-sampling A/D sampler, dual-port RAM and other hardware components, aimed at the actuality in face of our national electric power industry. The hardware and software design of the main functional model were expounded. By using the embedded Linux as a software development platform and Qt/Embedded as a development tool, the system could control the data processing system, as well as display, storage and network upload the monitoring data. The practicality and the accuracy of the instrument were proved.
