The Method and Practice of Replacing Duplex V-String Composite Insulators for ±800kV Tangent Tower under Live Working |

Abstract The replacement of UHV line insulator under live working is very difficult because of its high loading. This paper takes the replacing duplex V-String composite insulators for ±800kV tangent tower under live working for example, using hanging basket to enter into equal potential is determined by analyzing the safety distance and combined gap. According to the insulator mechanical characteristics, the replacement tool for duplex V-String composite insulators is designed including hydraulic tightener, insulation pull rods, hand tighten screw and thread fastener. And the intensity of each part is checked, through small scale tests and pilot tests, prove its reliability and veracity, and can effectively improve the working efficiency.
