Abstract The fault indicator is an important part of the distribution automation system. It has a wide coverage and large number of uses. Its reliability and real-time will directly affect the operation stability of the distribution automation system. But now the market in many kinds of fault indicator, uneven technical index of the equipment manufacturers, are part of the line fault indicator dropped, telemetry error, telemetry and remote signal transmission is not timely, misoperation, omissions and other problems, seriously affect the automatic water distribution network flat. In this paper, a set of automatic detection methods of fault indicator is studied based on mechanical automation technology. By this method, the failure indicator is detected unmanned, and the detection efficiency is improved.
