Abstract Aiming at the characteristics of large torque ripple and obvious vibration and noise of switched reluctance motor (SRM), a new stator structure with an improved regular 12-edge row is proposed. The finite element method was used to evaluate the natural frequency of a three-phase 12/8-pole SRM, and the first six intrinsic mode shapes of two kinds of stator core structures were obtained respectively. The results show that there are two natural frequency frequencies close to each other in the two stator structures. The vibration modes of the two modes are opposite. These two modes can be transformed into one mode; the stator is changed by externally circumscribing the regular 12-edge structure. The shape of the iron yoke improves the natural frequency of the stator core. The first six natural frequencies increase by 47.38%、48.14%、9.70%、12.63%、20.59%、and 28.03% respectively. The improved stator core structure can effectively reduce electromagnetic vibration and noise cause by the resonance.
