Abstract A large number of access to distributed power supply in distribution network has put forward new requirements on the performance of relay protection system of distribution network itself. The existing multi-terminal differential protection based on SDH communication is set as the reliability of the safeguard action, which will inevitably sacrifice a certain sensitivity, so it cannot meet the development demand of the future active distribution network. In this paper,a time-correcting algorithm based on multi-terminal differential protection vector is presented, and it can correct the misalignment of the differential current signal in the distribution network with small electrical distance, which greatly improves the reliability of the protection without sacrificing the sensitivity. The performance of the algorithm is analyzed and validated by an example.
