Maximum Power Point Tracking of Photovoltaic Cell in Boost Circuit |

Abstract An engineering model for Photovoltaic Cell simplifies its mathematical model. It is the practical model for photovoltaic generation research. Under the Matlab/Simulink environment, a simulation model of Photovoltaic Cell is developed under any sunlight and temperature conditions. Theory of the hill-climbing MPPT method and its implementation are both discussed detailedly in this paper. Boost circuit is regulated by hill-climbing MPPT controller. The controller tracks the maximum power point of PV cell by means of regulating the PWM duty-cycle. This paper also gives a simulation of the whole PV system under a temperature jump. The results show that the MPPT controller can adjust in time to track the maximum power point when the outside environment is changed.
