Abstract In order to obtain a more compact and smaller brushless permanent-magnet DC motor (BLDCM) for pumps, the symmetrical trimming optimization design of the stator punching plate is carried out, and the stator trimming structure of BLDCM for pump is presented. The finite element analysis of the motor with different cutting radius is made by using Ansoft software. The analysis results show that the stator volume of the optimized motor decreases, the material utilization rate increases, and the permanent magnet utilization rate increases slightly. The best trimming scheme can not only weaken the cogging torque, but also the optimized no-load back EMF waveform of the motor is more ideal. The research results provide a reference for the optimization design of BLDCM stator punch plate for pumps.
