Cable insulation monitoring based on multi-sensor |

Abstract Aiming at the difficulty in monitoring location of the fault insulation of cross-connected XLPE long cable,a multi-sensor based cross-connected cable insulation monitoring method is proposed. The method first installs a current sensor at the first and last ends of the cable core, and judges the insulation fault condition of the entire cable by the current difference between the two ends, and then installs three current sensors on each cross-connect box of the cable to confirm the entire cable. On the basis of the insulation fault, observe the change of the current on the cross-connect and locate the local position of the cross-connect cable fault. Finally, according to the characteristics of the three-phase cable type and the result of cable insulation failure, the simulation model of cross-interconnect XLPE cable is established to simulate the local insulation fault. The results show that the monitoring condition of the local insulation fault of the long cable is consistent with the theoretical analysis, and the feasibility of the method is verified.
