The optimization of high voltage direct current control strategy to improve on-load tap changer reliability |

Abstract To solve the problem of reliability reduction caused by frequent regulation of tap changers and achieve the purpose of less regulation or no regulation of OLTC, an optimized method of control strategy for different HVDC technology routes is proposed. For the inverter predictive Gamma control strategy, Udi0 control mode is chosen and boundary control conditions are given; for the inverter constant DC voltage control strategy, it is improved to the dynamic DC voltage control strategy and the OLTC control is also changed to Udi0 mode. In the RTDS simulation environment, Binjin and Chusui ±800kV UHVDC transmission projects are modeled and tested. The simulation results show that the proposed improved control strategy can significantly reduce the OLTC ation times, improve the reliability of the OLTC lifespan, and has good engineering practicability.
