Abstract The structure and working principle of the capacitive voltage transformer are simply introduced. According to the state of the related equipment, infrared temperature measurement and diagnostic data, the abnormal measuring voltage of a 35kV capacitive voltage transformer is analyzed. The cause of the accident is found out, which is verified through the disintegration. And some preventive measures are put forward, which provides the certain reference value for other accident analysis of some electrical equipment.
