Abstract This paper analyzes the traditional wave differential protection principle and put forward an improvement. This algorithm only transfer a small amount of head data on initial wave algorithm to enhance the index in reliability and speed. Wave signal from all kinds of noisy environment is extracted through the morphological pre-filter. After detecting the signal singularity through wavelet transform, the signal can be used in the simulation about traveling wave differential protection based on morphology-wavelet.
