The Optimizing Methods to Design the Precharging Circuit of Grid Connected Convertor for Direct-drive Wind Turbine |

Abstract Before connected with the grid, the DC bus capacitors of wind convertor are discharged completely. In order to keep from producing large impulse current to damage grid side breaker and DC bus capacitors while grid connected, a circuit should be designed to precharge the DC bus capacitors before grid side breaker switches on. Based on the analysis of the shortage of common precharging circuits, the optimizing methods to design three phase and single phase full bridge precharging circuit are improved. The validity of the design methods is supported by simulation result. Moreover,for the converter with larger DC bus capacitor, a novel low power consumption capacitive precharging circuit is proposed.
