Analysis of Data Sharing based on Principle of Substation—Area Protection |

Abstract According to the characteristics of smart substation, the function and principle of substation area protection were discussed. Substation area protection is based on multi-source information, which can overcome the shortcomings of long action delay, complex configuration and coordination, and weak self-adaption in conventional substations. The communication features of process bus are analyzed based on the switched Ethernet substation network scheme. Location network oriented process bus featured with SAV and GOOSE message sharing mechanism is been simulated by using OPNET software. It is verified that data sharing under lower sampling rate and its real-time response ability is basically achieved between the process layer at 100Mbit/s network.
