Abstract:The cable termination of a 10 kV switchgear outlet is a fault-prone point in power distribution systems, and its operational condition directly affects power supply reliability. Based on a typical fault case at the cable termination of a 10 kV switchgear outlet, this paper systematically analyzes the mechanism and development process of the fault. The analysis indicates that electric field distortion caused by poor cable termination craftsmanship is the root cause of insulation breakdown. The protection actions triggered at the time of the fault is elaborated and theoretical analysis is combined with on-site inspection to determine the cause and implement corrective measures. Finally, comprehensive fault prevention strategies are proposed from multiple perspectives, including source control, operational management, and specialized inspections, providing references for enhancing the operational safety of 10 kV distribution systems.
