Abstract  When the span between the two straight towers is two long, it will tremendously affect the weighing measurement accuracy of the transmission line ice thickness. Based on the traditional weighing method to calculate the ice thickness of the conductor, to measure the difference of transmission line length before and after ice loading, as well as the inclining angle of both sides of the main tower, then builds new mechanical model to solve the ice weight on transmission lines on both sides of the main tower. Finally, it’s able to calculate the thickness of ice loading. It can avoid calculation error is too big by the span between the two straight towers is two long. Through constructing analog transmission lines and multiple sets of experiments, validate the improved accuracy of the weighing method is relatively high.
