Abstract  Unit commitment problem is an important part of economy dispatch in power system and a basic problem of short term generation schedule. It had been studied for many years and been used broadly. Its benefit is very remarkable. The basic assignment of unit commitment problem is to make the total cost of generation operating minimum by electing proper generators in system. At the same time we must know the system load demand of the short future and satisfy the some constraints, e.g. load demand, spinning reserve, the constraint of generation itself and other constraints. This paper proposes a new mathematic function of Unit commitment problem in power market which is based on the traditional Unit commitment function. Then give an example of IEEE 26 generators, 24 buses, 38 lines system and system load demand in one day, calculated its 24 hours’ Unit commitment, using the Dynamic programming with order of priority to limit the number of Unit commitment state. In this method, the economic dispatch of system load among generators of different Unit commitment state is solved by Dynamic programming also, inside of the traditional equal Incremental. At the end, the calculated result will show the effect and efficiency of this method.
