Abstract  Aiming at an atypical fault of 220kV gas insulated switchgear (GIS) isolating switch operating mechanism transmission shaft fracture, the process of fault checking is introduced in detail. The cause of this fault is analyzed by spectrum analysis, hardness test, scanning electron microscope (SEM) analysis of fracture surface. Measures such as strengthening equipment acceptance and quality supervision are put forward to improve the quality of equipment operation.
