Abstract：During the “12th Five-Year Plan”, three cities in northern xinjiang are planning morepower. Apart from hydropower and wind power of Altay and Tacheng, Hefeng power plants, Karamaythermal power plants, Fuhai thermal power plants, Beitun thermal power plants and other large andmedium-sized thermal power project planned to put into operation around 2012 to 2014. By then threecities in northern xinjiang will be a large number of surplus. This paper through the stability calculation, researched the transmission capacity of the existing power grid. Finally according to the results of thepower grid surplus power and power grid transmission capacity, researched the need for gridreinforcement and construction programmes.
