Abstract:In the 220/380V low-voltage system, there are a lot of low-voltage apparatus and equipment whose voltage bearing is low and energy resistance is small. When the lightning strikes the low-voltage distribution system, lightning current would intrude into the low-voltage equipment, generate overvoltage, and cause the equipment damage or burned. Surge protection devices (SPD) in power distribution system play an important role to achieve equipotential lap and limit overvoltage. This paper mainly analyzes the influence of the distance between the SPD and the different property loads in the type I protect case. It is concluded that the property of the loads and the distance between SPD and the loads can influence the protection distance, which can serve as a useful guidance function on over-voltage protection in low-voltage distribution system.
