Abstract:To realize system lightning protection, lightning risk assessment mainly investigates the possibility of lightning, analyzes consequent severity with scientific principles and methods, and puts forward corresponding protective measures. A case study on teaching building lightning risk assessment was conducted in this paper, and the contribution of lightning risk assessment to lightning protection design was also discussed. The results suggest that lightning risk assessment is of great significance to determine the lightning protection level, and leads to more scientific selection of surge protection device. appropriate use of assessment conclusion can improve the scientificalness of lightning protection design, and prevent unclear design, and also enable lightning protection engineering to proceed with advanced technology in a safe, reliable, economic and appropriate manner.
