Design of control system for cylinder valve in hydropower unit based on Siemens S7-300 series programmable logic controller

Abstract:With the operation of high-head and large-capacity hydropower units, the cylinder valve plays a major role in preventing water leakage because of high pressure and protecting the vanes and bearings. The control system put forward higher requirements, on account of high quality, operation precision and synchronization requirements on cylinder valve. In this paper, the electro-hydraulic proportional valve drives the relay device of the cylinder valve. Based on PID closed-loop control, the relay device can turn on, turn off the cylinder valve, and meet the safe operation requirements of hydropower plant, with Siemens S7-315PLC being the controller.
