Abstract：The transmission line of a substation occur a 110kV single phase grounding fault which causes the action of the main transformer neutral point gap zero sequence protection and the cutting of main transformer operation. Through inspection of fault place and recorded fault data, the paper analyses the cause of the action of the main transformer protection caused by line fault, and gives some specific recommendations in order to ensure the safe operation of the system equipment.
