Abstract：High voltage transmission line insulator make potential different conductor in mechanical interconnection, and make them electrically insulate, we require them operate in the condition of normal working voltage,internal and external overvoltage cases safely and reliably. This paper introduced the traditional high voltage insulator leakage current test methods and the basic composition of on-line monitoring system of high voltage power lines, and also described the main characteristics of high voltage power lines leakage current and its extraction, collection and processing method , what’s more, studied the method to broaden the leakage current sensor’s band, then proposed the method of monitoring the high voltage power lines insulator leakage current pulse and average leak current peak in a specific period of time. The article puts forward method can meet the electric power industry for high voltage transmission line insulator leakage current real-time monitoring.
