Abstract:There are certain limitations in fault feeder detection by using the zero-sequence current characteristics of single-phase earth faults in small current grounding systems. In view of this problem, this paper starts with the principle and distributional characteristics of the negative sequence current of single-phase earth fault, and illustrates the superiority of fault feeder detection based on negative sequence current. By comparing the transient amplitude characteristics of zero-sequence current and negative-sequence current of each feeder after fault, a transient fault feeder detection method based on the difference of sequence components is proposed. The method has high line selection accuracy and high sensitivity to fault feeder detection of high-resistance grounding or zero-crossing grounding. Simulation experiments verify the effectiveness of the proposed method.
