Abstract This paper introduces the retrofit programs of excitation system for a 240MW hydrogenerator. Excitation system uses newly designed cabinets with back to back layout, integrated air-cooled, water-cooled cooling, and flexible electrical braking. The results achieved expected retrofitting effect.
