Abstract The monitoring of communication link is very important to operators. Finding and confirming the abnormal link fleetly and intuitively is very important to operating reliably of relay protection and automatics. On the basis of the characteristic and practical application of GOOSE communication link, this paper propose the ternary Monitoring method.this method not only can fleetly confirm the abnormal link and determine the fault equipment but also can duly find concealment interrupt of link. It can provide useful evidences to analyse and deal with the failed link.
