Abstract Neutral point non-effective grounding is a common way to improve power supply reliability distribution network in our country, but because the single-phase earth fault current is very weak, it is difficult to locate the fault position. At present, many places use artificial patrol illegal to determine fault location, this not only increases the maintenance workload, also caused a power outage for a long time, influences the stability of power. From the domestic and foreign research present situation. First of all, the transient state of single-phase earth fault was analysed. The neutral point via arc suppression coil grounding phase frequency was analysed. Then focuses on the transient complex sequence electromagnetic flow of single phase grounding fault location techniques, its algorithm of matrix was gave, and used MATLAB to study on the simulation. Hope this can provide theoretical basis for the application of small current grounding fault diagnosis in the future.
