Abstract  A universal input and multi voltage output switching power supply based on TOP258YN was designed and developed which was used in the permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) controller. In order to solve the difficulty of choosing switching power supply chip under the condition of high-voltage input, an external switch in series means was adopted. The requirements for auxiliary power supply used in the PMSM controller were introduced, the design method of high frequency transformer was introduced, the operational principle of switching power supply was presented in detail. Experiments show that 4 no common ground DC voltage outputs can be obtained stably in the universal input range of AC 198V~400V. The hardware of this switching power supply has strong versatility and stability, performance index conforms to design requirements.
